About Dada Dunia

Global Impact

Local Support

In the heart of Dada Dunia lies a profound connection to the word 'Dada,' which, in Swahili, means 'Sister,' and 'Dunia,' meaning 'World.' These words capture the essence of our global sisterhood—a bond that transcends borders and unites us in spirit and purpose.

At Dada Dunia, we're more than a virtual assistant service; we're a beacon of change and a community committed to ethical empowerment. Founded in November 2021 by the visionary Jayne Akinyi, our journey began with a dream: to weave a network of African women, each empowered to lead a life of authenticity, bolstered by fair wages and profound self-awareness.

Jayne's vision, shaped by her own immigration journey and in collaboration with co-founder Liliana Stone, has blossomed into an organization where diversity is celebrated, and impact is intentional. Our ethos is not just about providing services; it's about nurturing a movement where skills are valued, and every woman is an architect of her own destiny.

Our Mission.

Dada Dunia is committed to offering exceptional virtual assistant services tailored for socially conscious enterprises. We stand for more than just business support; our mission is to uplift and empower African women. Through dedicated mentorship, comprehensive training, and holistic emotional intelligence workshops, we ensure that our 'Dadas' are equipped with every opportunity to achieve their fullest potential. Our approach is rooted in nurturing growth and fostering a community where every woman is empowered to excel.

What We Offer.

At Dada Dunia, we tailor our services to the unique needs of each client, offering everything from general administration and project-based tasks to digital media support and industry-specific assistance. Choosing Dada Dunia means engaging with a team that not only excels in expertise and professionalism but also contributes to our greater mission of empowering African women. Our work is a harmonious blend of quality service and meaningful impact.

Our Impact.

Every collaboration with Dada Dunia is a step towards economic empowerment in Black communities. We take pride in securing thriving livelihoods for African women, enhancing their professional and personal growth through workshops and mentorship. Our holistic approach allows them to rediscover and reshape their lives, breaking free from limiting beliefs. Beyond individual success, we're committed to uplifting whole communities. We engage with clients to foster understanding and appreciation of diverse realities, working with organizations like UACWA, Metroworks, and ISANS to promote inclusivity, diversity, and cultural competency. Our goal is to highlight the voices and triumphs of women in Black communities, ensuring they lead the charge in creating change.

Our Origins.

Dada Dunia's journey began with Jayne Akinyi's diverse life experiences, spanning Kenya, the UK, China, and Canada. Her move to Canada in late 2021 was a turning point, supported by local Halifax organizations through grants and mentorship. Inspired by her mother's entrepreneurial spirit, which supported her family's education and success, Jayne envisioned a platform to address the economic challenges faced by women in African countries. With this vision and a heart full of nurturing intent, Dada Dunia came to life.

“After immigrating to Canada, I felt a profound understanding of the responsibility I carried as an African woman with the rare opportunity to create a bridge of empowerment for my fellow sisters.” – Jayne Akinyi

In late 2022, Liliana Stone joined forces with Jayne. With over 14 years of experience in executive administration, combined with a passion for empowerment and social impact, Lily became the driving force behind Dada Dunia's operations. Born and raised in Mexico and now an immigrant in Canada, Lily's personal journey deeply resonates with the vision of Dada Dunia.

“It's not just about offering a service; it's about changing lives and narratives, one empowered woman at a time.” – Liliana Stone

Jayne Akinyi: A Tapestry of Resilience and Vision

Jayne Akinyi's story is not just one of overcoming odds; it's a narrative rich with cultural wisdom, entrepreneurial spirit, and a relentless drive for empowerment. From managing a bustling hotel in Kenya to navigating the complexities of life in China and the UK and now Canada, Jayne's journey is marked by a series of bold leaps into the unknown.

Her decision to establish Dada Dunia was more than a business venture; it was a response to a calling - to create a bridge of empowerment for African women. Jayne's personal experiences, infused with the entrepreneurial ethos she inherited from her mother, have shaped her into a leader who sees beyond the horizon.

"In creating Dada Dunia, I wanted to weave a network where African women find not just employment, but a path to rediscover themselves, to rise above societal biases, and to embrace a life of authenticity and fulfillment"
